Welcome to the Jersey Safeguarding Partnership Board Child Protection Procedures Manual
This manual is currently under construction. Updates to the format of the procedures are taking place in a phased approach. At this stage, this will not affect the content of the procedures. Please contact the Safeguarding Partnership Board for any queries or issues using the manual.
These procedures are for everyone who works with or cares for children and young people, this includes paid or unpaid practitioners, carers, family members and members of the public.
The adult at risk population is covered by the Jersey Safeguarding Adult Partnership Board Procedures.
The Children’s (Jersey) Law 2002 has been amended and the Children and Young People (Jersey) Law 2022 and commensurate Statutory Guidance became effective on the 26th of March 2024.
In view of this Jersey Safeguarding Partnership Board (SPB) multi-agency online children’s safeguarding procedures have been extensively updated. These procedures are commissioned and collaboratively delivered by Jersey SPB (reflecting the Jersey SPB Memorandum of Understanding).
Practitioners must refer to the Children and Young People Safeguarding Referrals Procedure.
The Safeguarding Introduction Chapter should be read before accessing the manual for the first time.
There is guidance on 'Using this Manual' which explains how this manual has been structured and the ease with which it can be navigated (see Section 9, Printing and Retaining Copies from the manual).
You can register to be automatically updated when this manual is reviewed–and this can be done by clicking on the 'Register for Updates' button below.
